FIFTEEN ARTISTS, TWO GALLERIES, ONE EXHIBITION
On the 17th of July 2008 the two galleries Andreas Grimm and Michael Zink are opening a group exhibition with artists of the Academy of the Visual Arts Munich.
The concept that underlies 17072008 is the collective process in planning and realising a group exhibition, which allows a close collaboration between established galleries and young artists. This unusual project of art students and students of the history of art was developed during their intensive discussion about the complex mechanisms of the art market within a series of seminars by Dr. Susanne Ehrenfried, curator of the Münchener Rück art collection. The theoretical discourse will now become reality.
17072008 combines fifteen different positions of young artists, who belong to various classes of the Academy. Through the successful confrontation of different work techniques and contents a dialogue is created, which is full of suspense. Fine ink drawings are seen alongside with vigorous painting and expansive installations, frozen choreographies of amorphous objects meet personal allegories and deserted rooms.
17072008 allows an insight into the broad and promising spectrum of the Academy, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year. The exhibition provides the unique opportunity to encounter the development of young artist in Munich.
